Finely fibrous, opaque aggregate formed when quartz replaces the mineral crocidolite. With natural Tigereye, the iron in the crocidolite has oxided to a brown color, keeping the fibrous structure. Natural Tigereye is heat treated to produce Red Tigereye. Deposits are found in South Africa, Australia, Burma, India, Namibia, and the United States.
